E.O.D

On Sunday I went to a Fund Raiser

Over 30 men made the nearly 200 mile bike ride in 2 days from
Santa Monica to Liberty Station.

The goal was to fundraise the Wounded EOD Wariors foundation.

EOD Wounded Warrior

EOD, or Explosive Ordanice Disposal is a volunter post in the military. Open to canidates from Navy, Army, Marines, and Airforce.

These people are basicly the "bomb squad of the military".

The majority of these men are in the Army or Marines. They disable IED's.

Basicly the guys in the movie "The Hurt Locker"

At the fundraiser I got to play with some equipment.

First I was privileged to put on one of thoes suits.

The suit weighs 82 pounds.

It is equiped with a quick release incase it catches on fire.

Soliders are expeted to run, do push ups, and get up from the push up position.

It takes two people to put it on you.

It's very comfortable.

On my right arm theres a controll panel.

This controls suit features such as the
suits ventilation system.

I also got to play with an bomb robot.

IRobot’s newly announced iRobot PackBot 510

The guy said it was the newest one his unit had and that he hadn't tinkered with it yet.

It was hooked up to an X-box controller.

Walking around were men whose legs have been blown off.

Today was a humbling, exciting, and fun day.

Above all it was Great!

  1. Great initiative to share your experience. I know an EOD guy. One of the most capable people I know. Very hairy work.

    Extra credit for this one.
